on our system (S8500+ Intuity Audix) We have outcalling set up on a few numbers in the Intuity Audix setup. Is there a way to assign the outbound Caller ID string for the Audix box? Currently, when the audix box calls out to a number, the CID shows 'unavailable' can that be changed?

change public" or "change isdn public" depending on your version. You need to add each of your audix ports in there as the extension and add the main audix number as the CPN Prefix.

seems to be the "change public-unknown-numbering" command

but im a bit confused on what to do with it from there... could you give me an example?

if i do a "list public..." there is a field for extn length (which would be a 4 digit ext) and the ext code, which i gather may be the first 2 digits of the extension, then a trunk group field, then the cpn prefix (area code+xxx)and total CPN length, which would be the whole number)

even in all this looking, i see that the numbers can be assigned, but is there a way to put a name instead? so the CID would read 'Technical Support' or whatever, instead of the number?

No way to add a name. You can leave the trk grp field blank. Here would be an example for a 2 port audix with ports 51901 & 51902 with a main audix number of 555-555-8755.

5 51901 5555558755 10
5 51902 5555558755 10

and by audix ports you are reffering to the audix lines, for example we have internal DID's of audix1-audix10, each with their own 4 digit number... is that what your meaning by ports?

...the main audix number is available to dial into from the outside, but the audix did's are internal only, does that matter?

The information given here is only part of the story. I agree that is must be set in change public numbering etc. but if the setting in the trunk group is not correct the CLI/ANI will not be presented. In the trunk group ( think it is page 2 or 3 of the trunk group form, depending on the CM release) when you set the send number to "y", another field below it opens up with a default setting of "Public"
This setting must be changed to match your PSTN setting. In South Africa this field is set to "unknown"

With normal stations there are three things necessary to display CLI/ANI

1. Page 2 of station ....CPN=y
2. Change public numbering
3. Change setting in trunk group

I'll clarify a bit. the regular phone extensions, etc from within the building all do show the outcalling CID, but the automated outcalling from the audix system does not. asside from the instructions above, i also wonder if the fact that the audix numbers/channels are not able to be dialed directly from outside the system, only the main audix number is direct dial from the outside -- plays a part in the 'unavailable' issue.
