Outbound Caller ID for remote workers 2

We have a newly installed AVAYA iP phone system running CM6 with g650 gateways. Management wants remote and home office workers to have a VPN phone (9611) at their houses or offices to replace their existing phone service.

I am having trouble figuring out how to deal with their existing numbers. These remote users need to keep their existing numbers so people can contact them, and outbound caller ID from the new VPN phone needs to reflect the existing number.

So I guess my questions are:

A: How do I change outbound caller ID on an individual remote IP phone (9611) without changing the outbound caller ID for the whole company?

B: How do I (cost effectively) direct all calls from the old number to the new IP phone through our phone system?

Any help on this matter is greatly appreciated.

A: You can set the phone number that is sent out in Public-unkown, assuming your carrier is setup to allow you to change the number.

B:I have to assume that the company use to supple the remote user with a business phone, and it is that DID number you are wanting to forward?
I would see if you can just get those number ported to your account, then you can ether adjust the Inbound number to match your DID system, our change the number, our what every.

I am new to Avaya but think I can help. Use the comand "ch pub X" where X is the trunk group that is assingned to the station. From that comand you can put in the current extion number and change what its outbound caller ID will be.

You could also just use IP softone. My system does not support OneX comunicator, but I think you could also use that.

Instead of wasting a good valid (probably DID) number on these, use an internal number range. For example, we used 17xx at my last employer for the VPN phones. These phones then had bridged appearances of the employees REAL number. This allowed for a much more smooth transition of 'going home' and 'going to work', plus no need to manipulate caller ID at all.
