Just got in a CS1000, old 61c upgraded to rls 7.6 out of service from a customer’s warehouse. Supposedly it was a working system when they stored it about 7 months ago. It has the SS, Mail, & everything with it. My question for a quick test can’t I just connect power & a terminal to it and fire it up or do I have to connect everything servers and all? I ask because I tried and I get no activity at all on either CPU and no lights at all on either CNI. I also get nothing on the terminal of even attempting to do anything.

Power is all you need. If it's an AC switch you need 208V AC on a 30 amp twist lock plug. A safety ground would be wise also. Connect to J25 for the Core Terminal on the Active CPU. If you are getting no CNI lights I would be checking power, switches and cabling.

It's a DC and I get lights and the network side seems normal because you will see lights flash then go solid like it ran through a test. But the CPU side the lights just go RED on the NT4N48BA Utility card and that's it. You get a power light on the NT4N39 also but nothing on the CNI or nothing in the Display of the Utility Card.

I guess I would start by reseating each card, make sure the dongle is there. There was an issue with the P IV's where they would go dark after power was removed from them. Some kind of bulletin but I cant recall exactly what it was.

Ah yes I totally forgot about that.
thanks

well these are the AAE5 cards but the bulliten also says they should work when they cool down. But these are not I've had them without power on them for a couple of days as I jumped from project to project. Still nothing has anyone else ran into the issue with these cards never comming back.

I have had 1 that never came back on an upgrade, or I lost patience, I forget. If you have a spare card swap one out and see if things change.

I too, have had a AAE5 card that went dark and never came up after a power down, and power was off more that 3 hours. Swap the card.
