I have a user who is getting this message when trying to send an attachment in Outlook 2000: Out of memory or system resources. Close some windows and try again. The only program running when they get this message is Outlook 2000. The PC is a Dell Optiplex with 128MB of RAM, so I don't think they are having a memory problem. They are also running this on Win NT.

A particular type of attachment or any attachment? If it is just one particular file can someone else test sending the same file to see if they have the same problem.

What editor is being used? If HTML what browser is loaded? Do you get the same results if you switch editors? joegz

Joegz,

It is any type of attachment that generates the error. Also the editor is Word 2000.

See if you get the same error message if you use the RTF editor or plain text. It could be a problem with the email.dot file but the only way to be sure is to try a different editor. joegz

Resources can run low, no matter how much RAM you have in the system.

Even though the user claims Outlook is the only program running, there are other processes that are running as well. You can verify this by hitting CRTL-ALT-DEL and going to task manager. The least you can do is take out as many entries as possible from the startup folder (Start->Programs->Startup) and do a search for *.tmp and delete all results. Reboot the system and the out of memory errors will hopefully have gone away.

If not, there are more in-depth procedures you can try to help the resource problem. Just post back if necessary...

joegz,

I changed the editor and it sent the attachment just fine. Thank you for your help.
