We have a strange thing happening on our BCM 4.0 system. The other day it ran out of memory and we got a critical alarm saying so. Shortly after that occurred we noticed that when we dial a "9" we get a fast busy with no message. This has been working and we have destination code 9 set to route 000 which uses pool "A" and there are lines assigned to Pool A. Nothing appears to be setup wrong and have compared to working systems and they are the same. Anyone have any suggestions as to what could cause this. I only mention the memory problem since these things have not happened before and they are within a day of each other.

Have you tried to reboot the BCM? This should clear out any memory issues and return it to a working condition.

First thing to try. It cleared the memory problem but the inability to outcall is still there.

Sometimes a reboot, will lose routing info. I would double check all routing and dest. codes. It could be last line in Pool A. Put call on hold and try again.

Adversity is Opportunity

Had our support contractor go on site and he shut down the BCM, unplugged it and let it sit then restarted it and everyghing was OK.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Sometimes the hardware will "hang" in a weird state. Only a full power down / restart will solve some of those problems. I've seen it happen a few times.

Glad its working for you now!

How big that system is and how many PEC cards do you have?

It is a small BCM 200. Not heavily loaded has 2 GATM modules, 10 VOIP phones, 8 VOIP trunks defined and 1 PEC. I'm just chalking it up to one of those things. I don't know what would cause the memory to be used up. When I have used the BCM monitor, the memory always seems at 61%. We do have the standard 256 of memory.
