Our office uses windows 2000 server and professional. A new person joining our firm works in a novell environment. He is currently using novell groupwise 5.5 and synchronizes with his Palm Vx using Intellisync. For a brief period of time he needs to use both his current office and our office.

He would like to have the palm set up at our office to synch here, where we use Outlook 2000 and exchange 2000, without affecting his ability to continue synching at his current office with Groupwise.
Is it possible to set up his Palm to synch at both locations?

You should be able to just start Syncing. Before your first attempt to sync with Outlook he should sync with his original setup (for a fresh backup), then go for it. When you sync with 3rd party desktop applications the conduits change (on the desktop), but the Palm PIM applications and what they support remains the same (fields type/length, etc).

Good luck!

Our situation mentioned above has changed. We now have 8 new users from a Novell environment in our office. They used Groupwise 5.5 and Novell 5, with Novell 4.8x or 4.9 clients.
Their computers are now part of a windows 2000 network, and they user either Office 2000 or office xp.

If they need to keep the information on the palm, from their last synch while in the novell network, can this be done while allowing me to set them up for synchronization with Outlook 2000 or Outlook XP?

If the information from the last Novell synch can be kept or backed up, is it possible to view now that they are no longer using Novell and Groupwise?

Whatever is on the Palm units right now should sync to the PIM applications on your current systems. This is, of course, assuming that they were using the standard "built-in" Palm PIM applications. This being the case, you should be able to use Chapura, or some other third party conduit package to get them sycning with Outlook; or just let them sync with the Palm desktop software.

Good luck

I have a similar problem. We use at our office a Win2000 network and I am not able to install the Palm Desktop software from my network user, not even with full Administrator priviledges.

I installed it from the PC Administrator user without problem, but from there I cannot sync with the files from the network user.

Any idea?
