On my wife's user account (WinXP Home Edition SP2) Her Outlook Express 6 (service pack 2) frequently ends itself as if a little green gremlin is terminating the program entirely. OE neither gives any error messages, taskmanager is not warning that the program is no longer responding...nothing, no indications of any obvious problems. Oh yes, Outlook Express restarts just fine. I've have gone so far as deleting ALL retained eMail messages in case the problem resulted from a corrupted message. The unexpected event primairly occurs when she sends her mail. What gives? Virus program is CA associates EZ Trust. My firewall is also CA EZ Trust. Spyware program is Spyware Doctor. Our access to the Internet is provide by Alltel DSL. Computer is a year old Dell Dimension desktop.

Oulook Express crashes? when sending eMail

With OE closed, use Windows search function to find outbox.dbx (you will need to use the advanced search options to include hidden & system files). When found, delete outbox.dbx. The next time that you start OE, a new outbox will be created. Let us know if this helps.
