Fellow AIX'ers;
I've come across a retired B50 w/5.1L installed. In order to access it on my home network I need to alter the IP information.
I have no console but it does have a GXT120 card installed. When I connect it to my KVM my monitor displays the startup info and accepts my '2' to designate this terminal as the console and the boot succeeds to the console login prompt. I have the root password and can log in.
The problem I have is that only the normal keys are recognized on my keyboard meaning when I enter smit I am done. Other than pressing the Enter key and alphanumeric values I am done. No navigation (up arrow, down arrow) no Esc key, even the Esc+0 doesn't work.
I tried another "Dell" keyboard with the same luck.
And, as luck would have it, my laptop doesn't have a serial port so I can't readily connect as a serial tty.
Does anyone have any ideas as to how I can get a keyboard to work on this system other than the obvious (IBM keyboard, or serial connected device)?
Any suggestions recommendations greatly appreciated. Even two can's with a string!
Thanks,
B
