OT - Error trying to install VS.NET 2003

Hi all,

Sorry for the off-topic post, but I can't seem to find a resolution to this issue and wanted to see if I could get some help.

I had to reformat my harddrive and reinstall windows 2000 server SP4. I have all my SP's and hotfixes installed, as well as VS 6 and the .NET Framework.

When I try to install VS.NET 2003, the prerequisites install fine. But when I get about 2 minutes into the actual VS.NET install (VB.net, c#.net, etc), I get an error.

The error happens immediately after the following:

generating setup script...

And this is the error that displays in a pop-up:

internal error 25003

I googled and found some tips, none of which helped:

Shut off anti-virus and firewall (AVG and Sygate)
Clean CD's
User alternative CD or source
Copy CD data and install from harddrive

Nothing has changed on this PC from a hardware perspective. Just the reformat on the harddrive.

Any idea why I can't install?

Please, let me know if you learned how to resolve this issue. I'm in the same boat, a year later and still no answers...

David,

I had to copy all 3 CD's to my hard drive and install it from there. I never figured out the problem but I was able to install it this way twice.

I copied the DVD to this Dell 7100 and I've tried fixing the setup.ini and turning off the services but it still sends the error...thanks for your help.
