I apologize for the off topic question, but figured with all of the telco experts that are present someone might have a glimmer of hope for me...

Our company is upping our Internet access and local telco installed a
Carrier Access Adit 600. We were expecting a Cisco 1700 series router.
Now I need to configure some packet filtering on the Adit 600 for
security purposes. Telco requested I open a trouble ticket so their
data team could do the job. Lo and behold they came back and said they
weren't authorized to modify any configuation settings as such. I would
have to complete an ownership transfer form and take over the unit
myself.

I have jumped through that particular hoop and am awaiting the logon
credentials back from local telco. Even then I have absolutely no
documentation on how to do what I need to do. Other manufacturer's like
Cisco have their PDF docs freely online for download. Not Carrier
Access, however.

Anyone have experience configuring an Adit 600's IP Router Service
Card? If not, does anyone have the docs that came with a new unit? The
T1 is scheduled to be turned up tomorrow and without some firewall
settings in place I don't want to cutover. And I don't want to buy an
additional router just because telco can't get me the docs :-(

True, but we don't want to spend another $500 on another piece of equipment since telco already installed a router. Worst case scenario that's what we'll have to do if I can't get a user manual in time I suppose...

I have some CA CDs with some stuff for the ADIT 600, but I'll have to find them and see what is there. It won't be until later today. I'm full with a service problem on a Legend right now.

Thanks anyway. Actually I called into CA and pleaded my case to a support person. They e-mailed me a ZIP archive of the Adit 600 PDF manual. So I have the info I need. Looks like this unit is pretty nice. I admin an Adtran Atlas that has a lot of integrated functionality as well. Their doc support doesn't require as much hunting and pecking however...

The CA Adit 600 is a nice unit. They are really small! I am glad they sent you the info. These companies need to be more flexible with support....

I was pleasantly surprised that I got the manual too. It is funny how certain areas of the telco world can be veiled in secrecy. Reminds me of my old friend Kristina ;-)
