I have a Mac user who's OSX machines never show up on my network. I can confirm net settings and Remote Desktop are on at these machines. This user is not experienced at hacking settings. Is there some application that the user could've downloaded to get the machines to do this?

Mkae sure that in System Preferences/Sharing the the machine has Windows Sharing enabled in both Services and Firewall. Enable anything else in those 2 that may be necessary to your needs

Thanks for the reply but nope. Forgot to mention Firewall is off on those machines. I am trying a direct IP connection and checking my nice list in ARD. ARD shows it as offline. I have 10 macs on the network connecting to a Samba emulated Snap server. No need for Windows sharing. All my Macs work perfect exept the ones that get touched by this one person.

It might be easiest just to do an Archive and Install of OSX. Then don't give that person administrative privileges - just user to what apps they need.

Since all the other machines are ok, the Archive and install should do the trick with spending a lot of time tracking down the problem.

fizzak, I've run into this - recent security updates to OS X disable ARD by default and you have to run a command line tool to enable it - we had this problem on all our machines as we upgraded them to Tiger.

Sigh. And, of course, after 30 minutes of searching I can't find the relevant article on Apple's site, even though that's how I solved this last time.

Thanks ObviousTroll, any way I can get details on that command line tool?
