area1 is tangent to area0
area3 is tangent to area1 but in no tangent with area0
so, creating virtual link from area3 to area0 is done.

my question is,
can routers in area1 be able to send LSA3 & LSA4s to area0 internal routers normally once the ABR router between area1 and area0 is properly configured?

here is another question,
what is the difference between
stub area and totally stubby?

thanks in advance!

I beleive that area 3 will receive LSA3 via area1-> area0-> than to area 3.

Stub- no LSA4 & 5, totally stub no LSA 3,4 and 5.

thanks jsteve

one more question.

is there any physical difference between stub and totally stubby?

Is there any physical difference between stub and totally stubby?

No physical difference, just an IOS config statement as to what types of routing updates are allowed in to the areas. Logically, though, I do differentiate my stubs, totally stubs and my NSSB areas in my network documentation to assist with any troubleshooting. I can be totally aggravating to try to figure out why are route is not showing up int the routing table and end saying to yourself, "Duh...this is a stub area!!!"

Hope this helps.
