Hello everyone,

This is regarding a stub area I'm trying to configure..Now I have a good understanding of stubbing an area...I curious let me explain..

I have two routers and two switches in area 0...

The two routers all have area 0 connections in the backbone, but the switches have another area database(5)...Now my concern I will have a T1 installed and connected to one of the core routers and I put this in new connection area 5..

If I were to stub this new area on the core routers..Would this effect the other area on the core switches?

example:
core r1
area 5 stub
1.1.1.0 0.0.0.255 area 0
2.2.2.2 0.0.0.255 area 0
20.20.20.0 0.0.0.255 area 5

core router r2
3.3.3.0 0.0.0.0 area 0
2.2.2.0 0.0.0.255 area 0

core LAN r1
2.2.2.0 0.0.0.255 area 0
4.4.4.0 0.0.0.0 area 0
5.5.5.0 0.0.0.255 area 5
6.6.6.0 0.0.0.255 area 5

Core LAN r2
2.2.2.0 0.0.0.255 area 0
7.7.7.0 0.0.0.255 area 0
8.8.8.0. 0.0.0.255 area 5

you configure a stub area to filter out type 5 LSA's so you have a default route to your ABR for external access. if you configure a link inside of the stub area then the ABR will still distribute that route into the backbone. be sure that you configure all of the other intended neighbors in area 5 as stubs also otherwise there will be no adjacencies.

I hate all Uppercase... I don't want my groups to seem angry at me all the time! =)
