Hi Guys,

Forgive my ignorance. But I have noticed recently when we have upgraded from tl5-sp6 to tl6-sp4 that when you do an oslevel -s command there is now additional information after the service pack:

5300-06-04-0748

What does the 0748 refer to? Couldn't see anything on the fix pack website.

Thanks.

The naming convention for Service Packs will change.

For example, under the old naming convention, the first Service Pack for Technology Level 6 would be “5300-06-01” (53 TL6 SP1).

Under the new naming convention, the month and week of the date the Service Pack is released will be used as part of the name of Service Pack—as a result, Service Pack 1 will be named to 5300-06-01-YYWW (where YY is the 2-digit year and WW is the 2-digit week the SP is available).

Thanks Guys. Why on earth you need the day and week though is beyond me. Unless it's a back covering exercise by IBM.

Why? So you know how old/recent your installed SP is I guess.

Good point p5wizard. Although I thought that's why the IBM Fix website was there for. Or even to make the most of your IBM Support contract ;-)
