I know it's still fresh and new, and probably no one has it yet, but do any of you folks that might be out there that aren't supposed to be here have any information about hardware compatibility between 4KV7 and 4KV10? I have the memo that states V7 is EOL and what the process is to migrate from it under different support strategies. I know that there is supposed to be a V7 to V10 upgrade package coming out in probably late May. For planning purposes I contacted my vendor and asked if there were going to be any hardware changes necessary between 4KV7 and V10 so I could attempt to budget, and I was told I would need to by ECO Servers to replace the 4K Processors, and "new hard drives for the APEs". Of course all this hardware would have to come with setup and all the labor that goes with it rather than me performing a standard NUC upgrade from V7 to V10. OK - this smells rotten to me. I have to replace the 4K processors with ECO Servers, but I just have to buy new hard drives for the APEs... OK, the APE processors are the exact same thing as the processors in the 4K, so how does that $hit work that they will work just fine with just a hard drive swap? This is reading to me like someone thinks I'm stupid and I'm going to buy that... Why would they make a V7 to V10 upgrade release if you can't do an in-place upgrade? I'm trying to find someone who can assure me that I CAN just do an upgrade, because our budget process is a year out and this has to be done by Mid September when all support ends for V7, and if I have to budget for all the hardware That would not happen before 2Q21 *IF* they even approve the budget item.

I don't want to call BS on the vendor if they are telling me the truth, but I'm having trouble believing that, because this is a new sales rep and he doesn't know I will find out the truth one way or another yet.

Thanks!

There's no mention of V10 on the support portal, but maybe you can find some clarity in the V8 documentation? There's a compatibility matrix called "OpenScape Enterprise Solution V9 - Planning Guide - Common Compatibility Matrix" that goes up to V8R2. It's under Downloads & Documents --> Product Information --> Products & Services A-Z --> OpenScape 4000 V7 --> Documents --> Design.

That document mentions "EcoServer is replacement for DSCXL since V7R2". Also they show the AP3300/3500/3700 good through V8R2.

Thanks! I'll look that up. I was told the V10 compatibility matrix is not ready yet, which is why they only gave me a rough guess on cost, but it was completely way off the deep end unexpected! :(
