I'm using OS X updated to whatever the last version available was (I'm at work, computers at home, can't remember what the version is). Anyway, the problem is that I don't shut my computer down, I just put it to sleep when I'm away during the day and overnight. After about a month, when I put it to sleep, it shuts off the monitor and the USB peripherals (mouse, keyboard) but doesn't shut down the cpu. The only way to wake it back up is to reboot it.

Anyone have any idea what is causing this?

Thanks,
Wags

Don't sleep the thing. Go to System Prefs/Energy Saver and select Never. Leave sleep hard drive unchecked. You can leave the monitor to sleep at whatever you like. Go to Options and uncheck everything unless relevant

At the end of the day you can log out. This will save you some grief. If you want, you might turn the computer off over a weekend or longer.

Using OSX 10.3.8 on a G4

I don't want to logout. The whole reason for putting it to sleep is to conserve power w/o having to shut it down. This isn't a huge issue. Just wanting to know if anyone else has had it happen or knows why it does.
