OS X, faxing and Server 2003

Hi,

i am working on a G4 Dual 867Mhz

Our network server is a small business server 2003 premium. Now, all the windows based computers here can fax away from their desktop via microsofts print to fax withthe fax being shared via Active Directory. Is there anyway i can print to this fax from OS X. I have added the shared fax as a printer and print to it but have no idea where the printed document ends up as it doesnt ask me to enter a fax number or anything. All help is greatly appreciated.

See what happens when you click on the Fax button on the Print window.

On the Modem drop down pick Show Fax list and see if the server fax is there. If yes pick that.

You type the fax number in the To part at the top of the window (or pick from address book if you use that). If you need 9 or anything on the dialing, make sure you put it in the dialing prefix box.

Then see if the fax goes – or not.

Ok,

in the drop down list of printers I chose 'Fax', it seemed to print but didnt give me a dialog box to put in fax number or anything. No idea where it went to either as when I go into the 'Fax' properties via 'Printer Setup Utility' it shows in the 'Completed' tab that the job finished.

So i go back to the print dialog box and choose 'PDF > Fax PDF'. This opens the box so i can enter the Fax Number, etc. So i enter the Fax Number but beside 'Modem:' i can only choose 'Internal Modem' and the only other thing in the drop down list is 'Print & Fax Preferences...'

What should i do now?

I am running 10.4.9 by the way.

First of all, do you have a phone line connected to the internal modem?

Without a phone line to the modem, the fax won't go anywhere!

Also verify your modem settings in System Preferences, under Network select "Internal Modem".

thanks for your reply, thats what i was looking - a definitve answer on why couldnt fax, didnt know if could do it over the network or not, obviously not, cheers.

P.S. we have a fax modem on the network that PC users can fax through
