My computer as been running slow lately. Opening up applications, surfing the web and shutting down the system. what can I do to speed up my system? Is it because I may have alot of songs on my hard drive? Can anyone help me please??
also if you open up disk utility and click on repair for your system disks then osx will repair any permissions that could slow things down,
if all else fails try opening a terminal and type "top" which will show real-time info on running processes, anuy that take up a lot of processor time will be slowing your system down, if you find any then let me know unless you are comfortable with killing off processes yourself
How full is your Hard drive getting anyway, if its too full then you will get some major slow-down issues
"You'll never see all the places, or read all the books, but fortunately,
they're not all recommended."
What model Mac do you have, how much memory and how much drive space do you have? Command click on your harddrive and click get info it will show the drive size and avaliable space. If it is less then 25% of the toal size you will experience slow downs, as stated in the above post.
There could be other things at play, but this is the starting point. BTW, do you leave your computer on all the time or do you shut down regularly?
