I am trying to figure out how to set up security for users connecting to an Oracle Database over ODBC links.

Details on set up:

Oracle 11g running on Linux
Windows 2003 domain
Users running Windows XP

I would like to be able to secure tables/views and tie it to their user accounts. I know that in SQL Server it is straight forward (basically map an OS login to a database user) but not sure how to do it in Oracle, let alone any differences because it is on a Linux box.

more details:

would like to do this using groups

example:

create an Oracle user called hr_db_user (assign access to db objects to it)

map a Windows group to that Oracle user (e.g. HR Oracle Group)
