A co-worker stil on OS 9.2.2 has been experiencing a periodic delay lasting a few second, then OK for a few seconds and finaly another several second dely. This regular and happens every ten minutes (exactly at :04, :14, :24, etc.). I have ruled out a few possibilities, Norton scheduler, time sync, his e-mail program, software update and a few other extensions that may querry the network periodically.

Any ideas what might be causing this.

Does this persist when all Firewire, USB and Ethernet cables are disconnected?

Does this happen when no extensions are enabled at boot?

It's very likely you have a virus. Some Mac viruses, including the 666 virus, attempt to connect via your network every 10 minutes to other computers.

I had troubles like that with the AIM Menu extension.  I would try extensions off then, if it is gone, try different sets in Extension manager til I found which one it was.
