Hi:
For years on my Mac I kept many windows set to default sorting by 'date modified.' If I creatd new stuff it was always at the top of the list. If I copied stuff from disk, network, etc. the new clone had a current 'last modified' date - that made it easy to find stuff.

Now, since OS 8.6 or 9 (it would seem), or for some other reason, I go nuts looking for new downloads and other docs copied to my Mac. It seems the 'last modified' date now sticks with the new copy of the doc, so, for instance, the newest "BlahBlah.sit," or "YadiYah.hqx" isn't at the top of the list, but buried down below with it's original 'last modified' date.

What's going on?
