OS 9.1 and Epson 680 inkjet

My son's just downloaded and installed OS 9.1, having been using 9.0.4
Since when his printer can't be "chosen" - it's there in the Chooser, but he can't print - the word processor program keeps saying "pick a printer".
So he's removed and reloaded the drivers for the 680 - still no joy.
Anyone know of any reason why - maybe it's an extension clash, but before we start going through all the extensions to find out which one is causing the problem, maybe someone here knows the answer???

Have you checked Epson's website for the latest version of their drivers? I'd start there...

I suspect that you have a USB connection on the printer? There was an upgrade a while back specifically for USB printers not showing up. (I'm on Ethernet so I ddidn't hang on to the details).

If you can't find an update on the Epson site, try VersionTracker.com. They often have update links. Also check on MacFixit.com, who have discussions when things fall apart....

Yes - USB connection; and a change of cable fixed the problem.
