Hi all,

I have just recently attempted to install the Networker TCP client for OS/2. After running the install script, which [at least] copied 5 files into c:\networker, I am unable to launch the client (TCPWORKER.EXE), and there doesn't appear to be any form of nsrexecd running.

When I launch TCPWORKER with the command-line parameter of the Networker Server (an HP-UX 11.0 running Networker 6.0.1), I get the client window which says "Trying to connect to <name of my networker server>" very quickly and then changes to "Searching for Networker Servers...", from which it eventually errors out, having "found" no Networker Server.

Does anyone know of the existence of documentation for this client, or have any experience with the install?

Thanks!

Hello Shetaan,

I have the Quick Start Guide for OS/2, and some experiences in backing up OS/2.
Here you can see some lines from the Quick Start Guide:

OS/2 Client Release Notes
This section covers technical issues related to operating the OS/2 Client.
o The OS/2 Client supports the following command line
options only:
-c (for systems with color monitors)
-kbs (for starting NetWorker in the Scheduled Backup
mode)
-m (for systems with monochrome monitors)
-s (for specifying the backup server)
o An Adobe Acrobat file (USER.PDF) resides in the
OS2\DOCS directory of the ClientPak for PC Desktops
CD-ROM. This file contains a User’s Guide with
additional information on using NetWorker. View this
file using the Adobe Acrobat Reader on any Windows
workstation. See “Installing the Acrobat Reader” on page
31 to install the Acrobat Reader on your local disk. View
USER.PDF by double-clicking it in the Windows File
Manager, or by opening it within the Acrobat Reader.
o If you use the ‘-s’ option to specify a server, then only the
specified server can back up the OS/2 Client in the
schedule backup mode. For example:
TCPWORKR -s <servername>
o Do not use the ‘-s’ option if you want Networker servers
to backup your OS/2 Client in the schedule backup
mode (-kbs). Also, options specified after the server
name are ignored when the ‘-s’ option is absent.
Therefore, these options should precede the server name
in the command. For example:
TCPWORKR -kbs -m <servername>

Important is also that you can ping and see the NetWorker Server over the Network. Maybe you dont have any DNS Services on the os/2 Client. Use the hosts file for naming problems.
