Orphaned Mailbox - BIGGER CHALLENGE!!!

I have an orphaned mailbox in the ESM. The mailbox is not associated with anyone in the active dirctory. I can not purge it or reconnect it to anyone (It is greyed out). I am also getting EVENT ID 9548 in the Application Log.

How do I remove this orphaned mailbox?

I had the same problem, this is how I fixed it.

Go to the mailbox store and expand it. Right click the mailboxes icon and run the cleanup agent. After this you should be able to purge the mailbox.
