hi,

I updated my test database with my production one with backup/restore.

the test start well, but i just forgot that there was on the test a user with a datafile that was not yes in production.

So now i wonder if there is a way to "import" this lonely datafile in my updated test database.

thanks in advance.
Marco.

In such a case, you must export ("exp") the Oracle user/schema from the "test" environment, then import ("imp") it into the newly restored environment.

If however, you blew away the missing "test" schema as part of the restore of the production database (prior to taking an "exp" backup of the "test" schema), then you are S.O.L. ("Surely Out of Luck").

Let us know what turns out for you.

If you have a copy of your system tablespace from the original test system, you may be able to restore that, together with your data file, somewhere else. You could then restart the test database by renaming the system and user data files (if they're not in their original locations) and dropping all the other unwanted data files. Once your cut-down test database is restored, you can export the user and put it back into the PROD database.

well i think i'm S.O.L. ;)

i'm going to restore my old test, export the schema and restore once again my production and then import the schema.

thanks for answering.
