Hi folks,

I have an Orinoco Silver card in an older Gateway Solo laptop running Windows 98. Even though I can log into my company network, the Connection Status icon in the system try blinks back and forth between the green bars indicating excellent signal strength and an exclamation point in a yellow triangle indicating a warning.

When I double click the icon, I get the ORiNOCO Client Manager telling me that the Radio Connection is Excellent but it also gives me a warning that it is unable to communicate with the AP. Please check encryption and IRQ.

I would appreciate any ideas here to stop that icon from blinking. If it really could not communicate with the access point, then how is it logging me onto the network?

Thanks!
Phil

I believe there is a problem with the older Orinoco cards and WEP. You may want to look into flashing the card with new firmware (if it's still available). Since Proxim bought Orinoco, I think they stop supporting the Silver cards.
