Origins of VB: A small article

I thought VB users might be interested in this crumb of information I ran across while researching some Jet details.

According to the author, VB had its origins in a scripting language within the precursor to Access:

Yes. Interesting the history told on that site seems to be different from almost every other history of VB, whereby Alan Cooper sold a visual forms designing package (which included a small scripting language), initially called "Tripod" and latterly known as "Ruby", to Microsoft. They stripped out the scripting langauge and put in what was essentially QuickBASIC under the project name "Thunder" - which was then released as VB1

From my understanding, it is possible that Omega contributed to QuickBASIC 4.0/4.5, but was not itself a direct precursor of VB. But who knows...
