organization directory name with special characters

Hello...our Exchange 5.5 organization directory name contains ,Inc. which is causing us problems when trying to prepare for an Exchange 2003 migration. This is the directory name which is greyed out, not the display name. The display name doesn't contain any special characters. Is there something we can do to remove the special characters so that we can continue the migration?

Directory names in the 5.5 directory cannot be edited after installation; but in any case it isn't these that ForestPrep objects to, it's the display name. Note that this objection isn't limited to just the Organization and Site display names:
