I have had a problem with 2 customer orders which went missing on our site. We have 2 linux servers one running the scripts and the other running a Sybase database. The 1st order was lost completely. The 2nd order was recieved as we got a sendmail type confirmation from the server....but what should happen is the order should also be ftp'd to our order entry system....but this did not happen. Are there any logs that could be checked to see incoming orders etc. These orders were from the same customer....so i don't know if there is a problem at his side. Sorry if these questions are a bit strange...but i have been left to run these servers with little Apache and Linux knowledge.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Dave.....

Hi, It completely depends on how your web application works but you could do a grep on the /var/log/hhtd/access log for that day/time when the customer made the purchase (thats if your on Linux/Unix that is) if your server is a Windoze box then you will still have a access_log but you will habve to use something other than grep to scan the logs.

Once you identify one entry for that customer you may be able to filter the search down to his/her IP address (for that secession).

You need to pull apart the application to identify if there are audit logs avalible, but if your asking this level of question I would expect that this is a bit beyond your skill set ?

Good Luck.
