I set the OrderBy property of a subform to "studentLastName, studentFirstName" (I tried it both with and without quotes), yet the form does NOT display them in alphabetical order. Am I doing something wrong?

Try this instead.
In the "Record Source" of the form. Click in it then click the "3 dots" button. If it asks do you want to Invoke query buider clik "Yes".
Drag all of the fields you need in your form down to the QBE grid below.
Make sure that studentLastName is to the left of studentFirstName. OK
Click in the Sort box under studentLastName and pick Ascending do the same for studentFirstName.

Next close the Query, when it asks do you want to save click "Yes"
When you view your form it should be correct.

DougP
dposton@universal1.com

Ask me how Bar-codes can help you be more productive.
