Client has opted for a heavy site...even on broad band there is a waiting time for new visitors as style sheets, flash and images load.

Is there anyway I can change the order of things loading? The images relevant to the style sheet load last, which really make the design look crappy, I'd rather they loaded before the flash.

If you make the flash project into several movies, not one, with the first one being a very small file.

Also make sure you optimize all graphics... every JPG can be "saved as" and choose smaller file (lower quality).. in Photoshop "save for web" will help optimize... GIF can be saved with less colors quite often with little perceived degradation.

If you are using CSS, play with the Z Order of your elements. Put important elements in front to load first, others in back to load after...

When in doubt, deny all terms and defnitions.
