Does any one know where in the OE tables I could get data that provides us with a historical analysis of backorders/order fulfillment? The standard B/O reports seem to only display current orders not fulfilled. I am interested in analysing backorders in sales value at end of each month going back to when they were outstanding and fill rates etc.

David,

Not sure exactly what you are up to but have a look atthe OELINHST_SQL table, particularly the qty_bkord, tot_qty_ordered, tot_qty_shipped and of course date fields. Everything you need is probably there. If you have a specific question please let us know.

One big "gotcha" on backorders is the backorderable flag on both the customer and item master. If this is set to N and someone actually short ships an item (Macola will let you do this, with a warning message) then the remaining backorder is deleted.

Also, I'm not sure whether you close orders or not but you could have a backorder that you decide not to ship and then delete the open balance. Don's right in looking at the OELINHST table. You could tell how many shipments you made against a particular line on an order, when you shipped/invoiced it and whether you filled the full amount eventually or not.

I have written several reports that are fulfillment reports. You may have to adjust your procedures to capture the data you wish to report on.
Example :

inv_dt 7-24
ln 1 item1 ordered 5 shipped 5 required_dt 7-23
ln 2 item1 ordered 10 shipped 5 required_dt 7-23
ln 3 item2 ordered 5 shipped 0 required_dt 7-23

Scenario 1
When billing you have to bill all line items not just the two that had shipments. This will write a record to your history of 0 shipped on line 3.

Scenario 2
Bill every order on its required ship date, if nothing shipped generate a invoice for the the back order (back order notice.
