Hi,
I am new to Oracle9i and have just installed it on my Windows NT pc. I don't have any instances active and would like to create one, however am having the following problems.

1. Not sure where to run the %setenv oracle_sid command from either DOS or SQLPLUS.

2. How can you connect as SYS if there is no instance running to do the STARTUP NOMOUNT bit.

Please help.

Sorry if this sounds like a really stupid question.
