Hi,

I am an Oracle database professional.
I have a need to upgrade to Sybase 12.5 as quick as possibe from development and performance tuning perspective.

Since I am new to sybase, can anyone help me with a link, doc or otherwise to get a quick at a glance equivalent feature comparison guides for functions, USER/ALL/DBA_tables vs sybase equivenet procedure calls, etc?

Much appreciate any help in this regard.

Regards
Ajay

You haven't specified whether you are upgrading Sybase->Sybase or Oracle->Sybase, although you implicitly suggest Orace->Sybase.

Both databases implement extensions of the ansi sql standard so their is plenty of sql redevelopment to do. And each obviously have their own APIs but unless you are calling this directly, you shouldnt have much to do.

gives a good overview, but migration is a mammoth task (depending on the complexity of the system) Don't underestimate the effort required !

Good luck !

That link is very old, but gives the key concepts.

There are various companies that will gladly help you with your migration.

Also, give Sybase a ring, I'm sure they'll be enthusiastic, too! They may also have more tips on what to do.
