Hello everyone

I am a oracle 8.0.0.4 DBA on unix 11 i would like to know the best way and get more information on tunning oracle database, what should come first and please can you make it step by step, i realy appriciate it.

Thanks.

First check the parameters like SGA and db_block buffers.
Check the users tablespace, System tablespace Should not be default tablespace for Users.
Check the enough space in the harddisk.
Check the indexes for large data and also type of index.
check the check-point-interval.
Check the kind of Database is running i.e. shared or dedicated.

These are simple and basic tunning tips.
