Oracle trainee prospects

Hi

I am currently making an attempt to switch careers from graphic design to either oracle developing or DBA. I took the first certification (PL/SQL) and am curious as to whether or not I can get a trainee position in times like these. Any body ever hear of internships and the like for people starting in the field?

any advice no matter how general is appreciated

I can tell you from the DBA side, that it is difficult to find any Junior or Traineeships in this field. It a catch 22 situation for DBA positions, you'll have a better change of gaining employment in this area if you have hand-on with Oracle database. Try installing Oracle 8.1.7 for Linux and work onthat.
