Oracle thinking about buying Zend

Wow, I'm really not sure how I would feel about the PHP engine in the hands of Oracle. It could have benefits; with the backing of a traditional giant like Oracle, PHP may finally be accepted as enterprise ready by 'big business', but... I also have doubts as to how many resources Oracle will devote to PHP in the long run. With a small company like Zend in control, PHP is their bread an butter, hence they may not have enormous amounts of cash and resources, but you know that they will continue to 'better' PHP now and into the future.

I guess we will just have to wait and see how it all plays out, for better or worse.

Looks like someone finally has a few things to say...

We will be part of a larger company, but it will be called MySQL
And about Oracles purchase of InnoDB and Sleepycat

Trying to kill MySQL by acquiring open source is like trying to kill a dolphin by drinking the ocean.
I like his attitude.
