Hello

We are looking to use Oracle 9i Spatial for a Geographical Information System project. I have experience of supporting Oracle when used for applications such as Finance, but not Oracle Spatial.

Does anyone know the main differences between the two, when supporting the system on a day to day administration basis?

Thanks

There should be no real difference.

Spatial basically gives you some new functionality, most of which is in inbuilt functions. It holds the spatial data in objects in tables.

The only trouble I ever had with spatial was when I tried to use sqlldr to load object data, but that was not spatial specifically. And it remains to be seen whether that was me or Oracle at fault ;)

Do you have any specific questions about Spatial?
