We recently did a clean install of Oracle Solaris 11 on our older x4540 THOR/thumper system. The purpose of which is to export a large iSCSI LUN for emergency use.
Following the instructions on:
I was able to create the zpool with one spare, no problem. But up to the point of creating the LUN, I get this ambiguous error:
# stmfadm create-lu /dev/zvol/rdsk/sanpool/LUN1
stmfadm: data file error
I have logged a ticket with Oracle with explorer data; however, I wonder if anyone here knows the cause of this error? I have searched Google, and I can't find anything really meaningful.
My only guess is that the other disks formerly had a ZFS raidz present and there are data leftover. But, if that were the case, I would expect the zpool creation to fail. Am I incorrect? Do I need to somehow scrub/sanitize the drives prior to creating a pool?
Any pointers would be appreciated.
Thanks.
