Oracle Reports Print in Letter instead of A4

Using Oracle Application server 9i with a reports server. If a report print is sent directly to a printer from Oracle it comes out in "letter" format instead of A4.

If, however I choose to output the report as a PDF then print from there it prints fine in A4 format.

Is this the reports server itself that is somehow defaulting to letter?

Are there config variables that can be set to sort this out?

Page size of the output is defined on the report design stage. Acrobat can automatically fit any output into any size paper. To change the size while printing directly from server, you will need to change the report layout.

Sorry my original post wasn't too clear.

I print in PDF format both times.

If I print in PDF format to screen (so that a window containing the report is brought up then I choose to print from there) it comes out in A4 format.

If I print in PDF format but instead of to screen I choose direct to printer it comes out in letter format.

Any ideas .. thanks in anticipation.

That confirmes my post. When the Acrobat involved, it adjusts the page size. When printing directly, the size is picked from the report layout.

Hi folks,
I have a similar issue. Our system prints reports directly from the server, basically using the rwrun command. We have recently upgraded Oracle Reports from 6.05.28 to Oracle 9.04.21. In version 6, we were able to print reports in A4 format, be default, with settings saved in the report builder. Having upgraded, we have noticed that Oracle will always default to printing in Letter format. If i was to click File-->Page Setup and select A4 and then save the report and compile it, there is no difference to the report, i.e. still prints in letter format. Can anyone suggest how i can ensure that the report prints in A4 format?
