I have problems with backups on a Linux Oracle RAC installation.
RHEL 3 update 5
Legato Networker 7.2.1-1
/ora is a ocfs Filesystem

Perticularly with the OCFS Filesystems.
Error:
* my.domain.co.za:/ora save: Warning inode number changed for /ora may not be recoverable

The other ext3 Filesystems backup fine.

How do you backup the OCFS Filesystems, or am I missing something?

Thanks for any help or ideas.
Regards
H

This may be a silly question, but just checking the obvious:
You do know that you cannot backup a running Oracle database just by copying files, don't you?
What kind of files are in your /ora filesystem?
How is your backup done?

regards

Yes I am aware of that.
I have bought the Networker Oracle Module To backup the DB's, and are still playing around with that.
At the moment I use RMAN to backup the Oracle DB, and then I want to backup the RMAN Backup, as I do on some of my AIX Servers.
There is infact two OCFS Filesystems on my Linux Server, and both behave the same, with the same error.

Here is my Savegroupcompletion output:
my.domain.co.za: / level=incr, 180 KB 00:00:16 102 files
my.domain.co.za: /boot level=incr, 0 KB 00:00:02 0 files
my.domain.co.za: /tmp level=incr, 22 KB 00:00:02 4 files
my.domain.co.za: /u01 level=incr, 104 MB 00:00:23 373 files
my.domain.co.za: /var/log level=incr, 3059 KB 00:00:03 10 files
my.domain.co.za: /d01 level=incr, 0 KB 00:00:02 0 files
* my.domain.co.za:/backup save: Warning inode number changed for /backup/patches/ may not be recoverable
* my.domain.co.za:/backup save: Warning inode number changed for /backup/oradata/ may not be recoverable
* my.domain.co.za:/backup save: Warning inode number changed for /backup/database/ may not be recoverable
my.domain.co.za: /backup level=incr, 0 KB 00:00:02 0 files
* my.domain.co.za:/u02 save: Warning inode number changed for /u02/cw/ may not be recoverable
my.domain.co.za: /u02 level=incr, 0 KB 00:00:02 0 files
backup-lnx: index:my.domain.co.za level=9, 11 MB 00:00:03 70 files

As you can see /backup and /u02 gives me errors.
If you go and browse the save sets there is nothing in those dirs.
And they are both OCFS, with different types of data.
Only the /backup/database has a running DB.
