A client's got a problem with Oracle RAC on two IBM Blades JS21 with AIX 5.3, both blades in the same chassis.
It seems that it is a requirement (for Oracle) that the adapter names for public and private networks must be the same on each node.
This means that if public network is on en0 in node A, it also must be on en0 in node B.
This configuration makes that both nodes have their public IP on the same blade center LAN switch (this is due to the blade center internal network, and cannot be changed).
The problem is that the client doesn't want both public IPs on the same switch, because it's a single point of failure.
We've tried to rename the adapters from the AIX point of view, but we've not been able to.
Is there a way to configure Oracle so that it can handle the networks on different adapters in each node?
Thanks.
