Oracle or Teradata? When does Teradata make sense?

Can anyone provide insight as to why I should consider Teradata vs an existing Oracle environment (7 Oracle data marts)? I've heard about companies consolidating Oracle data marts on a single Teradata system. What is the benefit? Thank you in advance for your insight.
