My superviser asked me tell him why I would use ORACLE or why MS SQL Server 2000. If you was asked to remove a system out of MS ACCESS, what do you suggest and why?

ijitnoin,

Wow!!! This discussion could be nearly endless...there are so many issues/variables that we certainly cannot address appropriately for your needs with so little information in your posting.

When I Googled just now for "Oracle versus MS SQL Server", I received only 8,180,000 hits. Some have Oracle biases, some have SQL Server biases, others are even handed.

You look them over and match the respective strengths/weaknesses to your situation (and let us know what you discover/decide).

Also, keep in mind that there are various editions of Oracle. You may not need the enterprise edition.

You asked this question in the Oracle forum. Do you think your results will be unbiased?

One version to keep in mind is Oracle XE. This is a completely free version of Oracle, but it's datastore is restricted to 4 gig. How big is your data requirements.
