I am in the process of making a decision on what database platform to use for a data warehousing project, my limitation being that I have to use Windows NT as the OS for a number of reasons. I am trying to decide if SQL server is a better database in terms of database performance to intensive queries, than Oracle. I had heard that Oracle (ver. 8, 8i) is slow on NT, is that still the case? Your help is appreciated...

Well, at the risk of sounding Clintonesque, "It depends on what the meaning of 'slow' is"!

However, I DO know that Chairman Ellison has a $1M bet on the line that Oracle can be faster than anything else. I think you are going to have to refine your requirements and criteria a little more than "fast" vs "slow".
