I am just now getting my feet wet in Oracle. Can anyone recommend a good book to get started learning in Oracle with? I have installed Oracle 9i on a windows server and already am frustrated with the Oracle Press books. The books don't contain good examples and seem to start off the bat by assuming you have used Oracle before. The sys logins I created during set up doesn't seem to allow me to anything and the Oracle press books doesn't mention anything about how to get in.

I have to say I first began here:

and found it a really good resource. In fact, I still use it to check that I have my syntax correct.

Hi,
Start with the Oracle concepts manual and move on from there..This site:

Has several starter online docs ( the 2-day DBA ones)
as well as all the available Oracle documentation..
The learning curve for Oracle, if you want to be efficient and effective, is quite steep and formal classes are usually the way to start.

Almost any question you can think of concerning oracle has been asked and answered on this site. Always one of my favorites.
