Hi,

Looking for anyone out there running Maximo, (a software application that tracks in house expences). I work for a Pulp & Paper Mill in northern Canada, and am the in house ITS DBA for Oracle.

I am attempting with our "Disaster Recovery" requirments, to duplicate the Oracle database on a test server in a test network environment.

I can create the database instance via copying the sample Oracle database to my test server, and dropping the sample data with the Drop...Cascade SQL command and end up with a blank Oracle database.

I then create the Maximo tablespace and run a script to add the users and grant permissions to the database.

I then export using the exp Oracle utility all the tables and data on our production server. I then copy this file over to our test environment and on my test server I perform an imp.exe. All the tables are created and all the data is there. I can SQL and verify using Oracle's SQLPlus utility, or Toad that I like far more.

I can connect to the Oracle database using SQLPlus, or with Toad and do what-ever. When I install Maximo the application will not connect to the backend. With an error the Network components are not installed. I performed a network install of Maximo, and obtain no errors, but still this error.

I have been now over 40 hours with the Maximo support group and they cannot tell me why this will not work.

I am running Maximo version 4.0.3 and have an Oracle v.8.1.5 backend. Maximo support has verifyied that these combinations are compatible.

Any Oracle-Maximo experts would be apprciated !

Pete,

I have worked with maximo before, but through Citrix servers, so I don't think I can help in this instance.

However, I do have a few comments on your Disaster Recovery.

In order to recover the database to a consistent state an export is of limited value. You need to take a hot or cold backup and recover this to your new server.

In view of the amount of trouble you are having I would try this, as you are then recreating fully the configuration of the live system.

If it still does not work, then Maximo support have more explaining to do :)
