Hello,

I am having many problems with my LONG fields in CR XI with oracle 9 and 10. When I updated them to Clob crystal reports worked fine. But I want to try and avoid doing this if possible.
When using LONG various problems occur, random errors, missing data, incorrect summaries etc.
Has anyone else noticed this and does anyone have any remedies for me.

There are known issues with Oracle Long fields, this is in BO knowledgebase

Looks like a solution may be to remove the long field and then Add it in again so its the last field in your select statement. Or switch to ODBC connection

That was interesting. I guess I am unable to update the SQL query in CR XI though?? Will it get updated if I remove the Long field - query, then add the field again?

It seems the errors only pop up when I add two or more long fields to the report. But maybe it is just the select ordering as described on the KB.

Fields usually appear in the select query in the order in which they are added to report.

Worth a try.

What if more than two LONGs are added? then one will always be 2nd last.
I will try the ODBC connector and come back to you.
