oracle installer does not start

Hi,

I have both Oracle 8i, and Oracle 9i on CD. When I launch setup from either one, the installer screen does not even appear. Do I need to have some type of Jave Runtime running in order to even get the installer screen? I'm download 9i personal addition from the site just to try this out..But it's driving me crazy..I just want to get past the install.

If you are in linux plutform, make sure you pc is at least have 256MB RAM and pentium 500 and above. If the spec of your pc is too low, it can't even show the java installer box.

for sure, you have to support Java runtime on the machine you going to install.

Without an OS specified, help is difficult to give..

If using an Intel P4 that is a known issue, search these forums for workaround..
