I desparatley need to work from Home and need Oracle designer 6i installed on my WIN 95. I have the CD.

After having clean the Machine I installed it only to receive Orainst.exe error message followed by an explorer message requesting me to close or ignore (eventually forcing me to Close).
Used the default_home c:eek:rawin95

I then installed forms 6i no problem.

Try to check out connection to database using system/manager and scott/tiger - received TNS errors ( to do with service and unable to connect to destination).

I browsed around forums and all for similar problems (for which there are few only).

To that effect I made sure that my service name in tnsnames.ora and listener.ora were in similar. Even used Net 8 to set up a service.

Still tns detsination error!

I had to install designer afterwards as CD with me for short while only.

What can I do? All I am asking is that I have a working version of Designer (and Forms now) and that I can connect to the database.

Please, PLease can somebody who has read this and realises exactly how to cure the problem help??? I really need to get on with things and this is really hampering my progress indeed.

thank you in advance and despair..........

Are you sure that des 6i is certified to work on win95? The only versions of Ora db certified to work on win95 was personal oracle 8 and pers oracle 7, whereas pers oracle 8i only runs on win98 and win2k , but not on win95. I wonder whether the i part of 6i means is indicative that you really have to upgrade to win98 for success?

Well on the CD it is written Win 95 and also for the Forms 6i CD. I think if there was a platform issue then the installation would winge earlier on - I have had experience of this when I accidently was installing Oracle enterprise for win NT onto 95.

Pleasse list the specific error messages you get
